This Week at State Fair Park
The Christian Convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses will be in the Jim Norick Arena at State Fair Park May 17 thru 19. The Convention will start at 8:00 a.m. daily and admission is FREE to the public.
The Centennial Building will be fired up on Saturday, May 18 for the return of the OK Victory Dolls Roller Derby. The 2013 season continues with a double-header starting at 6:00 p.m. (doors open at 5:00 p.m.). Admission is $10 in advance and $15 at the door (kids 12 and under free).
Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy the OKC Gun Show at the Cox Pavilion on Saturday, May 18 and Sunday, May 19. Vendors will be on hand to buy, sell and trade guns, knives, ammo, hunting supplies and other outdoor merchandise. Admission is $12 for adults and kids 12 and under are FREE.
This Week at State Fair Park
Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, you’ve probably heard that the coolest 5K on the planet will be invading State Fair Park with color on Saturday. If you aren’t registered for Color Me Rad, you’d better act fast because the race will most likely be SOLD OUT by the time the first wave of runners take off on Saturday morning.
If you are registered and ready to get RAD, here’s some important info to know:
Packet Pickup:
Red Coyote Running & Fitness on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 10 AM to 7 PM.
Race Day Schedule:
Morning Session – Begins at 9 AM sharp and continues in 20 minute intervals. Last morning wave begins at 10:20 AM.
Afternoon Session – Begins at 1 PM sharp and continues in 20 minute intervals. Last wave of the day begins at 2:40 PM.
Please stick to your registered wave time! Check your registration confirmation for your specific time.
Arrival:
Plan to arrive 45 minutes to an hour BEFORE your wave is scheduled to begin. If there is an emergency and you miss your wave, don’t sweat it – just join in on the next one. You can jump into wave scheduled after your start time, but you can’t be a ‘sooner’ and start early. Got it? Last wave starts at 2:40 PM.
Parking:
Enter State Fair Park through Gate 5 (off of May Ave and south of 10th Street) or through Gate 6 (off of Reno). This event is gonna be huge, so there will be a small army directing people and vehicles to the course once you have arrived and where to go when the race is over. Please follow instructions – the goal is to make your race day fun, safe, and speedy.
The Oklahoma Paint Horse Club’s “World Warm Up Circuit” runs May 11 and 12 in Barns 7 & 8. This show brings in hundreds of some of the most beautiful and distinctive horses to Oklahoma City. Admission is free.
Super Dave’s Gun Show will wrap up the weekend’s events in the Oklahoma Expo Hall on Saturday and Sunday. This show will have 500+ tables overflowing with high-quality prepper gear, custom knives, MREs, rifles, pistols, shotguns, ammo, and all types of hunting and outdoor equipment. Admission is $10 at the door.

Some of the top barrel racers in the world have descended on State Fair Park this week for a chance to bring home a World Championship title. The Better Barrel Races World Show will be running through Sunday, April 28 in the Jim Norick Arena. Admission is free.
The “Horse Show Capital of the World” is welcoming a different kind of animal this weekend – cats! Feline enthusiasts will be scratching at the doors of the Centennial Building on April 27-28 for the 17th Annual Championship All Breed and Household Pet Cat Show (presented by Thunderkatz of Oklahoma). Admission is $5 for ages 13 and up.
On Saturday and Sunday, hundreds of vendors will display their products and services during the R.K. Gun Show. The ultimate sportsman one-stop-shop will be held in the Travel & Transportation Building. A discount admission coupon is available here.
The Just Between Friends Children’s Consignment Sale will round out this weekend’s events. The first day of the weeklong consignment sale, featuring kids clothes, toys, games, and accessories, will kick off at Noon on Sunday, April 29 in the Cox Pavilion. Admission is $3 on April 29 only. The newest and most innovative products for your home will be showcased including: builders & remodelers, new homes, landscape & garden ideas, lawn & garden equipment, do-it-yourself projects, decorating ideas, pools, spas & tubs, home furnishings, masonry, financing, plumbing & heating, cabinets, cleaning services, security options, electronics, garage doors, siding, and millwork.
Aside from visiting the many booths found at the Home and Outdoor Living Show, attendees may also take in informative seminars – including cooking demonstrations from Bravo’s Top Chef: Texas fan favorite, Chris Crary!
The Home and Outdoor Living Show will be open to the public March 22 – 24 in the Centennial Building and Cox Pavilion. Admission is $9 for ages 13 and up.
About 7,000 Oklahoma students from age 9 to 18 have converged at State Fair Park this week for Oklahoma’s largest youth livestock show, the Annual Oklahoma Youth Expo. This year’s expo runs through March 26th and all of the OYE events are free and open to the public. The Premium Auction of Champions will be held this year on Friday, March 22. We invite you to come out and support Oklahoma’s youth.
Metro Family Magazine is bringing Kids Fest to the Oklahoma Expo Hall on Saturday, March 23 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Kids Fest will feature an Extreme Animal Petting Zoo, inflatables, hands-on arts and crafts activities, Spaghetti Eddie, and a TON of family-friendly exhibitors. The OKC Jaycee’s General Store: An Annual Craft Fair will be held on Saturday, March 23 from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Hobbies, Arts, & Crafts Building. The Jaycee’s, short for the Junior Division of the OKC Chamber of Commerce, goal is to develop the leadership skills of young adults ages 18-40 through community contributions like their annual craft fair. Admission is free and open to the public.

We are HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY because Jep, Jessica, Martin, and Godwin of A&E’s ‘Duck Dynasty’ will be here to sign autographs during the Oklahoma Tackle and Hunting Show! The show opens at noon on Friday and runs thru Sunday, February 3 in the Travel & Transportation Building.
The Duck Dynasty gang will be available for autographs on Sunday, February 3 from noon to 3:00 PM but you must have a VIP ticket to participate. VIP tickets also include entrance to the show but only 1000 are available so get yours today!
If you’ve got kids that are interested in hunting and fishing, opening day of the show (February 1) is also Kids Night. At 7:00 p.m. the first 500 kiddos through the doors will receive free giveaways (valued at around $30) and have the chance to participate in tons of fun activities like paintball, laser tag, archery, rock climbing, fishing pond, and a lot more.
The OK Victory Dolls first home bout of the season is on Saturday, February 2. Doors to the Centennial Building will open at 5:00 PM and the action starts at 6:00 PM. Get tickets in advance for only $10 from brownpapertickets.com, Skate Galaxy OKC, or Guestroom Records. Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door, and kids 12 and under are FREE.
Buchanan’s Vintage Flea Market returns this weekend to the Modern Living Building, featuring a large selection of antiques and collectibles for the serious collector or the amateur decorator. Admission is $5.00 per person, and the admission hand stamp is good for both Saturday and Sunday.
The Junior High Wrestling State Championships will be held in the Jim Norick Arena on Friday and Saturday. Cheer on youth as they learn about athletics, sportsmanship, and teamwork.
The OKC Gun Show will return to State Fair Park this Saturday and Sunday. Guns, ammo and hunting supplies will be available to purchase or trade in the Oklahoma Expo Hall. Admission is $13 for adults, $10 for veterans, FREE for children 12 and under, and Senior Citizens 62 years and older are FREE on Sunday. A discount admission coupon can be found here.
To round out the week of shows, the Greater Oklahoma Hunter Jumper Schooling Show will be held Saturday and Sunday in Barns 1, 2, and 3. Admission is FREE.
