This Week at State Fair Park

The Christian Convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses will be in the Jim Norick Arena at State Fair Park May 17 thru 19. The Convention will start at 8:00 a.m. daily and admission is FREE to the public.

OK Victory Dolls LogoThe Centennial Building will be fired up on Saturday, May 18 for the return of the OK Victory Dolls Roller Derby. The 2013 season continues with a double-header starting at 6:00 p.m. (doors open at 5:00 p.m.). Admission is $10 in advance and $15 at the door (kids 12 and under free).

Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy the OKC Gun Show at the Cox Pavilion on Saturday, May 18 and Sunday, May 19. Vendors will be on hand to buy, sell and trade guns, knives, ammo, hunting supplies and other outdoor merchandise. Admission is $12 for adults and kids 12 and under are FREE.

This Week at State Fair Park

Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, you’ve probably heard that the coolest 5K on the planet will be invading State Fair Park with color on Saturday.  If you aren’t registered for Color Me Rad, you’d better act fast because the race will most likely be SOLD OUT by the time the first wave of runners take off on Saturday morning.

If you are registered and ready to get RAD, here’s some important info to know:

Packet Pickup:

Red Coyote Running & Fitness on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 10 AM to 7 PM.

Race Day Schedule:

Morning Session – Begins at 9 AM sharp and continues in 20 minute intervals.  Last morning wave begins at 10:20 AM.

Afternoon Session – Begins at 1 PM sharp and continues in 20 minute intervals. Last wave of the day begins at 2:40 PM.

Please stick to your registered wave time! Check your registration confirmation for your specific time.

Arrival:

Plan to arrive 45 minutes to an hour BEFORE your wave is scheduled to begin. If there is an emergency and you miss your wave, don’t sweat it – just join in on the next one.  You can jump into wave scheduled after your start time, but you can’t be a ‘sooner’ and start early.  Got it? Last wave starts at 2:40 PM.

Parking:

Enter State Fair Park through Gate 5 (off of May Ave and south of 10th Street) or through Gate 6 (off of Reno). This event is gonna be huge, so there will be a small army directing people and vehicles to the course once you have arrived and where to go when the race is over.  Please follow instructions – the goal is to make your race day fun, safe, and speedy.

The Oklahoma Paint Horse Club’s “World Warm Up Circuit” runs May 11 and 12 in Barns 7 & 8.  This show brings in hundreds of some of the most beautiful and distinctive horses to Oklahoma City.  Admission is free.

Super Dave’s Gun Show will wrap up the weekend’s events in the Oklahoma Expo Hall on Saturday and Sunday.  This show will have 500+ tables overflowing with high-quality prepper gear, custom knives, MREs, rifles, pistols, shotguns, ammo, and all types of hunting and outdoor equipment. Admission is $10 at the door.

This Week at State Fair Park

Mom with baby at the Just Between Friends saleJust Between Friends Children’s Consignment Sale continues this week and has over 200,000 items for babies and kids on sale.  If you are looking for name brand clothes, furniture, toys, strollers, and bedding then stop by the Cox Pavilion today thru Friday to snag all the bargains your arms can carry.  Most items are discounted 25% on Thursday and 50% on Friday.

If you like high-speed rodeo action, head over to the Jim Norick Arena and watch cowboys battle it out during the 12th Annual Cowboys of Color Rodeo. We’ll open the chute gate at 7 PM on Saturday night. Tickets can be purchased HERE or by calling the Jim Norick Arena Box Office at (405)948-6800.

This weekend’s Buchanan’s Vintage Flea Market will be held in the Modern Living Building.  Each month hundreds of dealers from across the United States gather to sell treasures and hard-to-find items such as furniture, glassware, pottery, china, books, quilts, shabby chic, collectible toys, clocks, artwork, memorabilia, vintage clothing and much more.  Admission is $5 for adults, children 12 and under are free.

If you are a collector or dealer in worldwide coins, bullion, medals, tokens, currency or casino chips, then make plans to attend the ONA Coin and Currency Show in the Hobbies, Arts, and Crafts Building on Saturday and Sunday.  Admission is free and you might find that rare item your collection has been missing!

The EGI Jewelry, Bead, and Gem Show will be held in the Oklahoma Expo Hall, May 3 thru 5.  The show will offer FREE bead stringing and pearl knotting classes to the public as well as a large selection of beads, pearls, and gold and sterling jewelry.

Beautiful Morgan horses will be parading through the Super Barn and Barn 3 beginning today thru Sunday, May 5, during the Red River Classic Morgan Horse Show.  Admission is FREE for all performances.

Barns 7 and 8 will be filled with barrel racers competing in the Central 4D Barrel Race on Saturday and Sunday.  Admission is free so come out and support local barrel racers.

This Week at State Fair Park

Senior Celebrators is the leading Christian Conference for mature believers and older adults. This year’s event has an incredible line-up of guest speakers and entertainers including: President George W. Bush, The Gaither Vocal Band, David Jeremiah, Dennis Swanberg, and Charles Billingsley.   The conference runs through April 18 and registration information can be found here.

The Southern Plains Farm Show begins tomorrow at State Fair Park. Even if you don’t farm, this is an impressive agricultural event that every Oklahoman can appreciate because it celebrates our agricultural heritage. Antique tractors will be on display every day and various booths will be giving away monetary prizes and other great gifts to attendees.  Admission is free and open to the public.

The second Oklahoma City Women of Joy conference will be held in Jim Norick Arena April 19 – 20. With the very best speakers in the country, the brightest stars in the contemporary Christian music universe, and sound, biblical teaching, the Women of Joy conferences offer an exciting, spiritually fulfilling, experience for today’s women.

If you are hooked on American Idol or The Voice, don’t miss the OK City Star Semi-Finals on Friday night! This regional singing competition will present 30 singers from 4 states and 18 different cities that are competing to get a spot in the top 10.  Contestants will hit the stage in the Sales Facility (located behind the café in Barn 3) every 6 minutes from 5:00 – 8:30 PM. The competition is FREE and open to the public.

Yeehaw! The 2013 RAM National Circuit Finals Rodeo will be in the Jim Norick Arena April 4 through April 6.  This year fans can enjoy rodeo favorites like bareback riding, steer wrestling, barrel racing, bull riding and LIVE CONCERTS!

We are thrilled to welcome the 6th Annual Baby & Toddler Expo to the Centennial Building this weekend! This is the 6th year for the event, but the first time it has been held at State Fair Park. All your favorite family-friendly vendors will be here with the latest products for babies and expectant moms.  Don’t miss hourly prize drawings, FREE baby photos, FREE educational seminars, a diaper derby, community resources, and much more. This event is FREE and open to the public.

The Oklahoma Health and Wellness Expo will showcase medical technology, breakthrough treatments, and plenty of activities for families to experience fun and fitness.  The Cox Pavilion doors will open at 10 a.m. for health screenings, healthy cooking demonstrations, dance performances, main stage entertainment with local celebrities, performances by the local groups and organizations and an “ask the expert” forum for questions.  This event is FREE and open to the public.

The beginning of spring gets bargain hunters blood pumping because it is the start of – GARAGE SALE SEASON!  If you love to sort through piles of stuff to find collectibles and treasures, don’t miss the Largest Garage Sale in OKC.  Oklahoma Expo Hall doors will open at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday.  Admission is $2 per person.

Buchanan’s Vintage Flea Market returns this weekend to the Modern Living Building, featuring a large selection of antiques and collectibles for the serious collector or the amateur decorator.  Admission is $5.00 per person, and the admission hand stamp is good for both Saturday and Sunday.

The Super Liquidation Sale in the Hobbies, Arts and Crafts Building will open at noon on Friday and run through Sunday. Tickets are $8.  (Hint: Get there early for the widest selection of goods!)

The Motorcycle Swap Meet returns to State Fair Park on Sunday, April 7. The swap meet will be held in the Centennial Building, and admission costs only $6.00 per person.  Come browse the wide variety of motorcycle parts and apparel that will be on display at this event from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (rain or shine)!
