HELP WANTED: Fabulous Fair Interns!

At the beginning of every year, right after we make our New Year’s Resolutions, we post information about the current internship opportunities at the Oklahoma State Fair.  Our internships are not your everyday internships, and, no, we don’t pay in funnel cakes and corn dogs.

Our recruits are exposed to the ins and outs of event planning for Oklahoma’s  Premier Family Attraction.  Every intern we hire has actual projects and events that they are responsible for, and they are encouraged to come up with new ideas to enhance the program they are working on.

Our internships range from PR and Marketing to Special Projects to Livestock and Horse Show Coordinating to Educational Attractions to Creative Arts.  Each position has unique responsibilities, but they all require candidates who are extremely organized, detail-oriented, and professional.  Possessing a passion for working with the public doesn’t hurt either!

Detailed internship descriptions and information about the application process is available here.

We will also be attending the following Career Fairs:

  • UCO:  February 2
  • OSU, Agriculture, Food, Environmental and Natural Sciences:  February 8
  • Greater OKC Chamber, Greater Grads:  March 1

If you are attending one of those events and would like to stop by our booth and find out more, we would love to meet you.

FUN and FUNdraising at State Fair Park

Chances are, if you grew up in Oklahoma, you were involved in or knew someone involved in 4-H and FFA.  Both organizations are strong in Oklahoma and a BIG part of the success of the Oklahoma State Fair.  Next month, you have the opportunity to help fund a scholarship for Oklahoma 4-H and FFA students.

The Oklahoma Association of Fairs and Festivals (OAFF) is holding their annual convention at State Fair Park February 4-6, 2011.  In addition to creating networking and learning opportunities for folks in the fair industry in Oklahoma, one of the conference goals is to raise money to fund the OAFF Scholarship Program.

Historically, OAFF holds a live and silent auction during their convention, and funds generated from the auction contribute to the scholarship fund.  This year, they are kicking it up a notch, by offering convention attendees and the public a Bryan White concert!

Bryan White will be performing Saturday, February 5 at 9:00 PM, and all proceeds will directly benefit Oklahoma students.  Bryan White has had six #1 singles, two Platinum Albums, and two Gold Albums. Concert admission is included with a convention registration. Tickets will also be available at the door for $12.

You can find out more about OAFF and the concert at HERE.

Bonus for “Amazing Race” aficionados:  Jet McCoy, half of the Oklahoma Cowboy team that wowed everyone during the 16th season, will be the guest speaker Sunday morning at the Convention.  Rumor has it; he’s also attending the concert the night before….
